Periodontics
Swollen and/or bleeding gums are early signs that your gums are infected with bacteria and plaque. If not treated, the infection can spread and destroy the structures that support your teeth and jawbone. From gingivitis to advanced periodontics, gum disease can progress through a number of stages. Early detection is the best form of preventing further complications.
The only way to truly prevent gum disease is to schedule dental cleanings at least twice a year. There are areas of the teeth that one cannot always reach. The use of dental tools and advanced cleaning products allows us to remove the plague build-up from all your teeth, which gives your teeth the best form of prevention as well as early detection of possible issues.
A check-up at Dr. Walker’s includes the examination of your gums to access the health of them. Our hygienists will be happy to share with you additional information to help prevent gum disease.
